Amshaj Commences Producing Diagnostic Reagents

Established as Ethiopian subsidiary of Amshaj Manufacturing Plc at an outlay of close to eight million Birr, Jourilabs Diagnostic Manufacturing Plant is inaugurated on August 8, 2014.

Set to produce 20 types of diagnostics reagents, the factory collaborates with Sorachim, the leading Swiss enzymes supplier.

The investment incentives and supports from the Ethiopian Authorities such as the Ministry of Trade (MoT) and Ethiopian Investment Authority (EIA) are among the reasons that moved Amshaj to invest, according to  Khaled Challah, general manager of Jurilabs.

The raw materials for the production are to be imported from Switzerland and Spain, according to Louay Qussibati, chief financial officer of Jurilabs, which was established in 2014 as a joint venture of French and Lebanese investors

“There are 4,000 functional laboratories in the country,” said Abraham Zeleke, deputy director of the National Blood Transfusion Service. “We hope these laboratories will use the company’s products for their services.”
