Authority collects 71b Br in Six Months

The Ethiopian Revenue and Customs Authority (ERCA) has reported that it collected 71.1 billion Br revenue during the first half of this fiscal year.

The Authority’s target was to collect 82.9 billion Br during the first half of the 2016/17 fiscal year, but it managed to collect 71.1 billion Br in revenue, which is 85pc of the target. The total revenue earned during the last six months exceeded 11pc higher compared to the same period of the last year.

Domestic tax, export trade tax and sales of the national lottery were the major sources of revenue for the Authority. ERCA has also confiscated different types of smuggled commodities that were imported and exported to and from the country.
