Diageo Launches Guiness in Ethiopia

Guinness Extra Stout is launching in Ethiopia. Guinness is a black beer that has been in production for over 250 years. A beer that has travelled the globe is now brewed in Ethiopia by Meta Abo brewery, a DIAGEO company.

DIAGEO bought Meta Abo brewery for 225 million dollars in 2012. Guinness Foreign Extra Stout (FES) at 6.5 Pc ABV is crafted with extra hops and slow roasted barely.

“We will be launching in Addis Abeba soon and plan to introduce Guinness into the regions after establishing the brand in Addis. Guinness will retail at 15 Birr in most outlets, “said ZumiNjongwe, the Marketing and Innovation Director at Meta Abo Breweries.

The group, which is currently present in around 40 African countries, has reported a 2.6 billion dollars operating profit in the six months ending 31 December 2016.
