ECAE Equipped With New Lab Instruments

The Ethiopian Conformity Assessment Enterprise (ECAE) has procured new laboratory equipment that will be used in assessment of substances such as water. The equipment will reduce the two month period taken to assess water to just one week.

The equipment, bought for 37 million Br, funded by the Ethiopian government, will be installed in the six laboratories of the Enterprise that are run under the Assessment directorate, one of the three directorates that operates under the enterprise.

The Enterprise is also in the process of procuring additional equipment for 30 million Br donated by the European Union, according to corporate communications head at the Enterprise, Tekea Birhane.

The laboratory equipment is bought from both Germany and America, with German companies Lab Consult, Labsco, and A. Fundutch supplying, and American companies Filler and Durege also providing the equipment.

“The new equipment has new improved qualities,” explained Tekea, “the new ones can give multiple results at a time, but the existing ones give one result at a time.”
