Ethiopia’s Second Paper Factory to Open in Dukem

Ismael Toure Business PLC and other share holders are set to construct a billion birr factory in Dukem. Located within the Dukem Eastern Industry zone, in the Oromia Regional State, the new factory will manufacture pulp, paper and packaging materials.

The new company is to be named Pure Wood Pulp Paper & Packing PLC. and is a joint venture of Ismael and foreign investors from China and Ethiopians in the diaspora. It will have a production capacity of 32,000 tons of paper each year.

It will cover an area of 68ha of land once completed and will create more than 700 jobs. The construction is planned to be completed in coming 11 months.

The company is also set to be a pioneer in the country, as it joins the lone paper manufacturing factory, the Ethiopian Pulp Paper Packaging PLC, located in Wenji, Gefersa.

Ethiopia imports thousands of tons of paper annually, using scarce foreign exchange resources.

Ismael Toure has been in the Ethiopian market for the past three decades.
