Handing Key Responsibility

Crowne Plaza Hotel Addis Abeba, a would-be five-star hotel located in Lideta District, which has been stuck in a court battle with the local Crown Hotel over patent rights issues, is now over it. It has now reached a milestone of transferring management tasks to the Italian Saporiti Project Management Service at a cost of 38 million dollars.

And after 18 months, the deputy mayor received it back. The Crowne Plaza Hotel Addis Abeba, erected with 19 million dollars from the International Financial Corporation, is owned by Rezene Ayalew, a local businessperson who owns Tsemex Global Enterprise Plc and its subsidiary, Tsemex Hotels & Business Plc. Construction of the hotel began four years ago and is now 45pc ready to go. Last week, the hotel exhibited a finished sample room on its fourth floor and transferred the management in the presence of higher government officials. The biggest problem the 212 room hotel has alrady identified is space for parking lots,which could be solved by the City Administration who will receive the Key to t he hotel upon completion.   Established in 1983, Crowne Plaza is one of the hotel brands of Six Continents Hotel Inc based in Atlanta, US.
