LIVING MONUMENT

A sculptor in Meqelle has built a large structure representing the symbolic shoe worn by Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) fighters during the struggle to oust the Derg around a date tree, as a living memory to the sacrifices made during the conflict.
