New Factory Joins Juice Industry

An 80 million Br juice factory, owned by Sebetta Industrial Plc., a sister company of Petram Plc, was inaugurated on November 19, 2014, in the town of Sebetta, found in the outskirts of Addis Abeba, 25Km west.

The factory, Maaza, took the name of a Dubai based industrial company, Maaza International Plc, which works with Ethiopia’s Sebetta Industrial Complax Plc. Laying on a 6000sqm plot of land, the factory has the capacity to produce 5,000 litres of juice per hour. It also creates employment for between 60 to 100 individuals.

Petram Plc, which has operated in the trade sector since 1962, has now shifted its focus to the manufacturing sector. It has opened new manufacturing centres, such as Sebetta Industrial Plc, soap and detergent factories, and acquired Fafa Food Complex and Babile Water Factory.

This shift in business is the result of the contented policy in the sector and due to the sustainable nature of the manufacturing sector, a source within Petram Plc’s management told Fortune.
