New Nordic Hospital Introduces Emergency Call Centre

Nordic Medical Center, a Norwegian hospital branch around Bole-Rwanda in Addis Abeba, was inaugurated on November 28, 2015. The hospital which met the investment requirement of 3.6 million Br in order to be licensed, has now amassed capital of 68 million Br, according to Kjell Magene Kiplesunde, managing director.

Having obtained its licence from the Ethiopian Investment Commission on October 15, 2012, the Hospital took a while to be issued with its certificate from the Food, Medicine & Health Care Administration and Health Care Authority. After spending 33 million Br on the purchase of a building which used to be a guest house, the hospital invested an additional seven million Br to renovate it and also added a six-storey building.

The hospital has introduced a unique feature, which is a mobile application technology emergency call centre, launched with 1.2 million Br.  The emergency call centre coordinates all evacuations and dispatches ambulances to where the patient is. This mobile application requires Android phones and membership registration that has an annual fee.

Currently the Center has three international standard ambulances, and 60 employees, of which 38 are professional.
