Farmers Benefit from Honey Sales

Farmers in Bale Zone, Oromia Regional State, have secured over 10.2 million Br income from sale of 136,000Kg of honey in the past three months.about 1,400 farmers in nine weredas have obtained the stated sum that exceeds that of last year by  1.2 million Br, according to the zonal livestock resource management departement.

Moringa Plantation Underway

Development of Moringa plantation is underway on 56 hectares of lan in Kafta Humera Wereda of Western Tigray Zone. Moringa, which is serving as a food in 21 kebeles of the wereda, can also be used to purify water, produce oil and traditional medicine. One kilo of Moringa tea leaf is being sold for 110 Br inMekelleTown.

CONSTRUCTION

Ministry toOpenFirstStateOwned Industrial Zone

The first industrial zone  managed by the Industry Zone & Environmental Protection Agency, established under the Ministry of Industry (MoI) is to be opened the coming December. The industrial zone which rests on 256ha of land holds five factories resting on 25, 000 sqm. Ministry of Industry has received 243 ha of land at Kilinto area,AkakiKalitySub-city, and 1,051ha from Dire Dawa City Administration. It has also received other plots from regional states.

Mental Health Centre to be Constructed

The construction of Mental Health Centre would be launched soon in Addis Abeba. The centre would address the acute shortage of mental health professionals. Currently, only 90 mental health professionals are providing service across the country. of whom, 46 of them graduated recently in Masters Degree,while the remaining 44 had been serving as psychiatrists, according to Dr. Dawit Assefa, General Manager of the Ammanuel Mental Health Specialized Hospital.

TRANSPORT

Boeing, Ethiopian, SAO Join for Medical Supply

Boeing joins with Ethiopian Airlines and Seattle Anesthesia Outreach (SAO) to deliver approximately 9,000kg of medical supplies toEthiopia’s largest hospital. The delivery was made to theBlackLionHospitalusing the third 787 Dreamliner, making the first time a Dreamliner has been used as part of Boeing’s Humanitarian Delivery Flights Programme. The airplane was delivered fromEveretton October 22 and flew directly to Addis Abeba, to land after an approximately 15-hour nonstop flight.

INVESTMENT

Expansion Projects of Three Sugar Factories to be Finalized Soon

The expansion projects of Wonji and Fincha sugar factories will be finalized within three months.  Fincha Sugar Factory which will start pilot production in November will increase its annual production capacity from 1.1 million quintal to 2.7 quintal. And the   The Wonji Sugar that will start its pilot production until January will have an annual production capacity of 1.5 million quintal sugar and ethanol that can generate 31 MW electric power. The Tendaho Sugar is also expected to start its first phase pilot production this November.

Agency Issues Investment License

The Addis Abeba City Administration Investment Agency has licensed 3,793 investors with over 25.7 billion Br registered capital last budget year. The agency has earned over 3.8 million Birr from the service it offered, including renewal of investment licenses.
