REMEMBERING A LEGEND




The body of legend Miruts Yifter arrived in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia on Sunday, December 31 to hundreds of mourning family members, fans and government officials. Here, at Meskel Square, there was a public memorial, for the fallen hero who died in Toronto, Canada on December 22, 2016. He is remembered most for his historic gold medal wins of 5000 and 10,000m at the 1980 Moscow Olympics. He died at the age of 72 from a collapsed lung.
