SWEETS CHEAP

Al-Hashimi Sweets, a bakery at the heart of Dire Dawa city, 515km from Addis Abeba, is well known among residents for sweets and baklava made of layers of pastry filled with chopped nuts and honey. Inside and outside the bakery, residents often queue to buy their favorite baklava. Al-Hashimi sells four baklava for just eight Birr. Another sweet liked and preferred by many is the alawa, a kind of spicy cake, mostly frequented in Arab countries.
