Time of the Season

In front of the Exhibition Place, at Mesqel Square, it is the season of festivities. Ethiopia has one of the biggest horse population in the world, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Horses represent many things to many people, from being used as a means of transport, to the emerging middle class riding them for fun and the historical image of Emperor Menelik riding on an immaculate white horse, at the victory of the Battle of Adwa in 1896.
