African, Arab Summit Stresses Public, Private Partnership

The Fourth Africa-Arab Legislators and Business Summit on “Investing in Africa Makes Sense” started Saturday at the Sheraton Addis Hotel in Ethiopia’s capital, with 130 attendants from African and Arab private and public sectors.This two-day forum was organised by the Association of Senates, Shoora & Equivalent Councils in Africa & Arab World (ASSECAA) and Addis Abeba Pan-African Chamber of Commerce & Industry (PACCI), to encourage sustainable growth and business integration through enhancing the ongoing engagement of African and Arab business persons and politicians. Both groups highlighted opportunities in both regions and promoted collaboration between businesspersons and parliamentarians.Marco Francis, president of Seychelles Chamber of Commerce & Industries, stressed the need to liberalise trade, and advocated for freedom of movement as well as peace. He also emphasised the need for the private sector to be empowered. Issues identified at the conference will be submitted to national parliaments.
