The eighth Specialised International Agriculture and Food Exhibition (8th AGRIFEX- Ethiopia) and the Fourth International Tourism and Travel Fair have been opened at the exhibition centre on Thursday April 23, 2014.
The exhibition, mounted at the Addis Abeba Exhibition Centre and Market Development Enterprise (AAECMDE) attracted different players in the tourism, agriculture and food processing sectors.
The 8th AGRIFEX attracted 43 local and 20 foreign companies that displayed their products at the first hall. The second hall that hosted the Tourism and Travel Fair brought in 44 companies from various sectors including travel agents, car rental companies, hotels, handicrafts and hotels.
The mottos for the two exhibitions held at the same compound are “Promoting Agro Processing Industry for Food Security” and “Investment in Hospitality Industry for Tourism Development” for the AGRIFEX and Tourism and Travel Fair respectively.
“We, at the Chamber, sincerely believe that the development plans of the government and its endeavors to achieve the economic growth targets shall only be realised with active participation of the private sector,” stated Elias Geneti, president of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Associations, during the opening speech he made at the exhibition.
The exhibition will run for four days and will be wrapped up on April 26, 2015.
