Certification Centre Evaluates Construction, Land Sector Workers

The Occupational Competence Assessment and Certification Centre (OCACC) has started the second round evaluation of construction and land sector related employees of the government institutions.

The Centre, which plans to evaluate and certify 2,000 employees of the Ministry of Urban Development, Housing & Construction (MoUDHC) and its subsidiary offices, started the evaluation in July 14, 2015 and will complete the process in September 2015.

The employees to be evaluated include those in the Ministry, the Addis Abeba Housing Construction Bureau and sub-city offices for the land and land-related administration. The fields include urban land administration, real information system and surveying.

“All of them will be evaluated in a way that gives gap analysis and those who fail will be given training,” Girum Areda, communications head of the Centre, told Fortune.

The failing candidates will be given training for 15 full days with all of their expenses covered by the government and they will sit for re-assessment, according to Girum.

For the evaluation of the employees, the Centre has trained 10 lead evaluators, using  experts from Kenya, according to Girum.
