The second half of August is a special time for ladies in north Ethiopia, particularly Tigray and parts of Amhara. They celebrate Ashenda, a religious and cultural holiday. This exclusive ladies’ heritage is also performed in Addis, where the country’s ethnic groups converge. Captured above is a city performance by children, which not really in its original form; it is now common to see it as a form of begging on the streets.
