UN General Assembly Endorses Addis Action Agenda

During its 69th session, on July 23, 2015, the United Nations General Assembly endorsed the Addis Ababa Action Agenda agreed one week earlier. The Assembly referred to two aspects of the Third International Financing for Development Conference, held in Addis Abeba.  It first endorsed the outcome document of the Conference, while the second component extended gratitude to the government and people of Ethiopia for hosting the conference.

Secretary General Ban Ki-moon commended the Member States for taking a critical step forward “on the path to a more prosperous, just and sustainable world for this and future generations.” Meanwhile, General Assembly President Sam Kutesa hailed the development as the foundation for the success of the sustainable development goals Summit in New York this September, which will adopt the Addis Abeba  Action Agenda; and Conference of the Parties to the UN Climate Change Convention in Paris, in December.
