Addis to Host First Freight Forwarding Regional Conference

Ethiopia is to hold the first regional conference for Africa and the Middle East (RAME) on freight forwarding. RAME 2016, will be held from May 19-21, 2016 at the UN-Economic Commission for Africa and African Union venues. It is being organised by the Association of Ethiopian Freight Forwarders & Shipping, with 200 participants expected.

The three-day meeting will revolve around matters related to shipping and logistics.

“This is something that we wish to learn from the logistics experience of those who attend the conference,” said Salahadin Khalifa, vice president of the Association at the press briefing held on February 23, at Hotel Lobelia in Bole District.

There are challenges when it comes to the involvement of the private sector in shipping and logistics; one is policy. Directives and a proclamation that is not well implemented were also indicated at the press brief by Board members of the Association.
