Comm’n on Environment, Climate Gets New Boss

The newly formed federal commission in charge of the environment, forestry and climate change has a new boss in Fekadu Beyene (Prof.), former minister of Livestock & Fisheries.

His appointment by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (PhD) is effective as of October 22, 2018.

The Commission, which went through a restructure during the latest cabinet reshuffle two weeks ago, has been under the leadership of Gemedo Dale (PhD) and Shiferaw Teklemariam (PhD) since it was formed as the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change in 2015.

The Commission will report to the Office of the Prime Minister, according to the new restructuring.

Fekadu, a food scientist and technologist, has previously served as president of the Ethiopian Civil Service University and Welega University.
