Dashen Brewery S.C, one of the seven breweries in Ethiopia, has introduced a new brand dubbed Jano Beer. It comes five months after the company launched another beer brand, Balageru, in May 2017.
In a country where the estimated beer consumption per capita stands at about 10lts, Dashen is the second highest producer of beer together with BGI Ethiopia PlC. The brewery is owned by Tiret Corporate, which has an affiliation with the Amhara National Democratic Movement (ANDM).
In 2013, a United Kingdom (UK) based investment company, Duet that was founded in 2002, bought a 51pc stake in Dashen. Presently, the brewery has a capacity of three million hectolitres, while the total annual production capacity of breweries in Ethiopia is four times that amount.
The new brand beer, Jano, will be triple-filtered, a brewing technique Dashen believes will make the beer milder on the throat.
