FILL OF LEFTOVER KHAT

These goats in Mercato are taking their fill of leftover khat, a stimulant flowering plant, that has been discarded for trash. Nearby are kiosks that sell the stimulant. Khat is commonly chewed for stimulation in the Horn of Africa and the Arabian Peninsula. Khat is also one of the major export products of Ethiopia, earning the country close to a quarter of a billion dollars in the 2015/16 fiscal year.
