CONSTRUCTION

Shire Endasilasie Constructs 83.9m Br Development Projects

Construction of various development projects have been undertaken in Shire Endasilasie Town, Tigray Regional State at a cost of 83.9 million Br over the concluded fiscal year. Construction of cobblestone roads, ditches, sheds and additional classrooms are most of the projects undertaken during the reported period, according to Fiseha Wubet, mayor of the town. The town also has managed to create jobs for 8,669 individuals during the reported period.

Ethiopia Covers 8.5m Hectare Land with Trees

Ethiopia has covered 8.5 million hectares land with trees over the past three years, which exceeded the target set for five years. The target was to cover 7.5 million hectares land at the end of the Growth & Transformation Plan (GTP) period. The land covered with trees exceeds the target by one million hectares.

Ethiopia Obtains $281m Manufacturing

Close to 281 million dollars has been obtained from manufacturing sector during the concluded fiscal year, which is 52pc of the target set to obtain 542.4 million dollars. The stated sum secured during the reported period exceeded the previous year by 10pc. The stated sum was secured from export of textiles, leather and leather products, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals and chemicals.

REVENUE

North Wello Collects 180m Br Revenue

North Wello Zone, Amhara Regional State, collected 180 million Br revenue during the just ended fiscal year. The revenue was collected from direct and indirect taxes and other non taxable income tittles, according Mebrat Hussien, revenue education expert with the Zone. She said that the revenue collected surpassed by eight million Birr from the target plan. The amount of revenue collected also exceeded by 35.5 million Br compared to that of the previous year.

Office Collects 178m Br Revenue

Hadya Zone Revenue Authority Branch Office collected over 178 million Br revenue during the just ended fiscal year. The revenue was collected from regular taxes and municipal income titles, according to, Desalegn Getebo, branch office head.

EMPLOYMENT

Amhara Region Creates 350,000 Jobs

The Amhara Regional State Micro and Small Enterprises Development Agency said it has created jobs for close to 350,000 compatriots in the just concluded fiscal year. The jobs were created to unemployed compatriots residing in 10 zones and 38 town administrations of the regional state. Close to 119,531 of beneficiaries of job opportunities are women. Moreover 24,458 of beneficiaries of the job opportunities are graduates of technical and vocational colleges as well as universities.

The jobs were created in the textile and garments, handicrafts, wood and mental works, construction, urban farming and trade sectors.
