Ministry Revokes Agencies Licenses

Ministry of Labour & Social Affairs (MoLSA) suspends two private employment agencies, Al Tayar and Al Lodi, alleging them for trespassing rules set for private employment agencies.

Al Tayar allegedly recruited and assigned workers while the contractual deal was not closed yet and for working as a travel agent. The Ministry also revoked the license of Al Lodi Private Employment Agency stating that it was suspended more than three times.

Ethiopia’s 2016 Overseas Employment proclamation entails contraventions in deploying a worker before the approval of a contract, recruiting or deploying workers to a destination where there is no bilateral agreement or engaging and working as a travel agency is punishable by having their license revoked.

Currently, MoLSA has given 94 Companies a qualification verification to work as an overseas employment agency.
