Close to 22.3m Br Worth Facilities Inaugurated

Various facilities constructed in five wereda of North Shoa Zone, Amhara Regional State by the Debreberhan Town branch office of the Amhara Development Association (ADA) with 22.3 million Br were inaugurated. The projects are constructed to address the needs of the residents, according to Bisrat Tenagashaw, ADA chief executive officer. The association has carried out similar projects worth 17.7 million Br in the current fiscal year.

Town Constructing 654m Br Worth Projects

Construction of 38 development projects is underway in Mekelle Town of Tigray Regional State with 654 million Br. The projects include driver training complex, buildings for technical and vocational colleges and 15km asphalt roads and bridges, according to Mehari Gebrehiwot, head of the town construction, road and transport office. The complex being constructed on 140,000Sqm land has capacity to train 180 persons at a time.

Town Constructs Four Bridges

Construction of four bridges is underway in Mekelle Town, Tigray Regional State at a cost of 37.7 million Br. The bridges will help to will help ease traffic congestion in the town, according to Abraha Abadi, head of infrastructure development office. Bridges constructed in the town last year at a cost of 28.5 million Br are giving services to the public.

Association Undertakes 35m Br Worth of Projects

The Wolayta Development Association in Southern Regional State said it has undertaken various development projects with 35 million Br in 2013. The projects undertaken in collaboration with development partners are in the areas of food security, environmental protection, education, safe water provision, road construction, capacity building and health, according to Altaye Ayele , manager of the Association. The association is working in collaboration with development partners to increase its financial capacity.

Ethiopian Youths Sports Academy inaugurated

Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn inaugurates the Ethiopian Youths Sports Academy built on 24ha of land at a cost of 290 million Br in Gerji area. The Ethiopian Youths Sports Academy would enable sportspersons to be supported by scientific and professional trainings and register better victories. The construction of the Academy was started in 2007.

Hospital Expands with 40m Br

A district hospital expanded in Haremaya Town, East Hararge Zone of Oromia Regional State with 40 million Br was inaugurated last week. The government has constructed several health facilities in the zone to help residents benefit from health service near their villages, said Nure Kemer, chief of the zone. The hospital, which has 50 beds, has laboratory and X-ray services. It gives service to half a million residents in the town and two weredas, he said.

Ethiopia Invites More Chinese Investors

Deputy Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Demeke Mekonnen has invited more Chinese business persons to invest in Ethiopia while meeting with them in Beijing. He was in Beijing representing African Union (AU) Chairperson, Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn to be part of the 50th Anniversary of the Organization of African Unity, the current African Union, held in Beijing, China. Demeke said his government welcomes interested Chinese investors in all the sectors they have requested, adding that the country has a sound investment policy. Close to 400 Chinese companies are currently engaged in different sectors in Ethiopia.
