Gujji Collects 176m Br Revenue
A little more than 176 million Br tax revenue has been collected from various income titles in Gujji Zone of Oromia Regional State during the concluded fiscal year. The revenue collected during the reported period exceeds the target and the previous year by 18 million Birr and 40 million Birr respectively, according to Tadi Kura, head of the zonal revenue office. He attributed the success to the concerted efforts carried out to improve tax system and raise awareness among tax payers. Zone has set target to collect 180 million Br revenue during the current fiscal year, he said.

Zone Covers 3,700ha Land with Seed
Close to 3,700ha land in Bench Maji Zone, Southern Regional State has covered with various seed during the current main rainy season. The zone is working hard to cover a total of 25,000 hectares land with seed during the reported period, said Mamo Belete, the zonal agriculture department crop protection extension work process coordinator. Mamo said that 1,800qls fertilizer is being used to develop the stated area. Close to 6,000 farmers are cultivating their lands to harvest one million quintals output from the stated area, he said.

State Covers 3.2 Million Hectare Land with Seed
A little over 3.2 million hectares land in Amhara Regional State has been covered with various seed during the current rainy season. The state is expected to harvest over 152 million quintals output from the stated land, according to Lanteyederu Tesfaye, Amhara Agriculture Bureau Extension Work Process Owner. The Stated area is covered with oil seeds, spices and cereals, he said. He said three million quintals compost is being distributed among farmers.

Enterprise Opens 39 Branch Offices
Amhara Saving & Credit Enterprise said it has opened 39 additional branch offices in various areas of the region in the last fiscal year. The branches were opened in 36 rural towns on South and North Gondor, East and West Gijjam, South and North Wello and West Shewa, according to Ayalneh Mihiretu, Public Relations and Documentations head of the Enterprise. The opining of the offices raised the number of branches to 280 from the previous 241, Ayalneh said. The Enterprise is also working to open 35 additional branch offices and 16 micro banks in the current fiscal year.

WATER
Safe Water Facilities Goes Operational
Close to 1,645 safe water facilities constructed in East Gojjam Zone of Amhara regional State at a cost of 50 million Br have gone operational. The construction includes the digging of medium and deep water wells and development of springs. The construction of the facilities raised the safe water coverage to 86pc from the previous 80pc.

Agency Creates 350,000 Jobs
The Amhara Micro & Small Enterprises Development Agency said it has created jobs for close to 350,000 people in the last fiscal year. The jobs were created for unemployed people residing in 10 zones and 38 towns administrations in the region. Close to 119,531 of the beneficiaries of job opportunity are women.
