INVESTMENT

Investment Office Licences 24m Br Worth Projects

Eight investors with over 24 million Br combined capital received licences to undertake various projects in Bore Wereda Gujji Zone of Oromia Regional State during the last six months. The investors will undertake seven projects in the areas of agriculture, industry, hotel and tourism, according to Bekele Udo,  head of the wereda investment office. The investors have received over eight hectares of land to carry out the projects. The office has prepared over 247ha for investment in different areas of the wereda, the head said.

ROAD

Wereda inEast WollegaConstructing64Km Road

Construction of a 64Km road is underway in Nunu Kumba Wereda, East Wollega Zone of Oromia Regional State with over 17.5 million Br through the Universal Rural Road Access Project (URRAP). The road will benefit more than 45,000 residents and interconnect 13 localities in the wereda.

Dev’t Projects Worth 21m Br Underway

Various development projects are being carried out in Becho Wereda, Illuababora Zone of Oromia Regional State with over 21 million Br. The projects are in the areas of health, agriculture, safe water provision and education, according to Belachew Legesse, wereda chief. Construction of three veterinary posts, three farmers’ training centres and a 22Km rural road is well in progress. The public contributed over one million Birr for construction of the projects, said Belachew.

REVENUE

Sidama Collects 146m Br Revenue

Close to 146 million Br in revenue has been collected from different income titles in Sidama Zone, Southern Regional State over the last seven months of the current fiscal year. The revenue is collected from direct and indirect taxes, municipality services, value added taxes and non tax, said Teshale Bulado, head of zonal revenue authority branch office. The office has planned to collect over 344 million Br during the current Ethiopian budget year.

WATER

Safe Water Projects Under Construction in Bure Wereda

Safe water projects are being constructed in Bure Wereda, Illuababora Zone, Oromia Regional State with close to six million Birr. The projects include development of 28 springs and installation of water pumping machines, according to Eshetu Terefe, head of the wereda water, mines & energy office. Upon going fully operational after three months, the projects will benefit 4,000 residents. Safe water service coverage will also grow to 75pc from the present 63pc in the wereda.

Zone Constructing Clean Water Facilities

Construction of 1,650 clean water facilities is being undertaken in West Gojjam Zone of Amhara Regional State at a cost of more than 33.6 million Br. The construction of the facilities is underway in 13 weredas and five urban areas in the zone, according to Kinde Alebachew, head of zonal water resource department. Upon going fully operational at the end of in the current fiscal year, the facilities are expected to benefit 138,000 residents.

HOUSING

Close to 10,000 Condos Transferred to Beneficiaries

Addis Abeba City Administration transferred more than 10,000 condominium houses to beneficiaries. City Mayor Kuma Demekssa on the occasion said the administration is striving to solve the housing shortage in the city. Construction of the condos is underway based on the needs of the public with low and middle income, he said.  Various activities are underway towards development of the city, he added. The administration has so far constructed more than 92,000 condos.

RENAISSANCE DAM

Office Launches Official Website for Grand Renaissance Dam

Office of National Council for the Coordination of Public Participation on the Construction of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) launched an official website on Wednesday. The website www.hidasse.gov.et was designed for the Office by the Information Network Security Agency (INSA).

The website will enable citizens to access timely information concerning activities on the GERD, Fekadu Ketema, media & communication director of the Office of National Council for the Coordination of Public Participation on the Construction of the Grand Renaissance said at the launching ceremony.
