Press Agency Gets New Faces at the Helm

The parliament has appointed seven board members for the Ethiopian Press Agency, publisher of the state-owned daily Amharic and English newspapers Addis Zemen and the Ethiopian Herald, on March 16, 2018.

Firehiwot Ayalew, who is the state minister of the Government Communications Affairs Office, has assumed the chairmanship of the board of directors, which comprises of 11 members. The Agency was established in 1962.

Solomon Tesfaye, state minister at the Office of the Prime Minister, Amanuel Abraham, deputy government whip and Addisu Gebregziabher (PhD), commissioner for the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission are some of the board members appointed by the parilament.

Assegid Getachew, head of the mayor’s office in the Addis Abeba City Administration and Teshager Shiferaw (PhD) and Yohannes Shiferaw (PhD), lecturers at Addis Abeba University, were also recently appointed as board members.
