Ethiopian Tax Research Network (ETRN), which works towards generation and exchange of tax knowledge in Ethiopia, was officially launched on September 20, 2017.
International Centre for Tax and Development (ICTD) launched the centre with funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The network is concerned with all topics related to taxation, ranging from tax policy to tax administration.
The newly established research network will help experts in the field to bring people together and develop further to benefit the country, according to Giulia Mascagni (PhD) director of ICTD.
It also aims at supporting the generation and exchange of tax knowledge with stakeholders including tax practitioners and researchers from Ethiopia and international organisations.
Currently, Ethiopia’s tax to GDP ratio stands at 12.7pc, which is below the sub- Saharan Africa average of 18pc.
