Ethio Telecom Drops Tariff on International Call, Text Messaging

The Ethio Telecom, the state telecom monopoly, has revised its tariff on outgoing international calls, dropping by up to 40pc.

The CEO, Frehiwot Tamru, has announced today at a press briefing that a 10pc to 40pc tariff reduction on international mobile calls and a 51pc drop on international text messaging will be effective.

The telecom provider also formed a new department to combat what it says is an international call fraud. The new department, International Business Division, will be reporting to the CEO.

Ethio telecom will also start offering services in web hosting and domain name designation, beginning January 2019.
