Parliament Legislates Emergency Decree




Members of Ethiopia’s Parliament have passed a state of emergency declared by the Council of Ministers two weeks ago, during an emergency session. However, the bill has failed to win a unanimous support of those 490 MPs in attendance today, March 2, 2018. No less than 88 MPs voted against it while seven have decided to abstain from voting. The bill was passed with 395 MPs voted in favor.
