Election Players

Though the 2015 national election began on a positive note and with optimistic expectations, it has begun to mirror the 2010 elections, which were marred with controversy, seeing party leaders complaining about the election results, claiming that the outcome was all but dictated by the Ethiopian Peoples’ Revolutionary Democratic Front (EPRDF). Despite the African Union Observers’ claim that the election was “calm, peaceful and credible”, leaders of political parties beg to differ. In fact, just this week, two major political parties denounced the preliminary results of the election which was released by the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).

While all other opposition parties, including the major ones that were main contenders finished the race with scattered numbers, the incumbent EPRDF has gone on to win across the board in what could readily be described as a landslide victory.
