Utility Monopoly Gets New Boss




Shiferaw Telila, former head of Universal Electricity Access Program (UEAP), has replaced Gosaye Mengistie to serve as the CEO of the state monopoly, the Ethiopian Electric Utility (EEU). as of yesterday May 23, 2018.

Shiferaw, an electrical engineer with more than two decades of experience was appointed to his role beginning yesterday, May 23, 2018. His legacy was in playing a major role to implement a national project of ruler access and electrification.

His predecessor, Gosaye, has been heading the EEU since 2015 until he retired mid this week. EEU was formed in 2013 after the break up of the former Ethiopian Electric Power Corporation (EEPCo) into EEU and the Ethiopian Electric Power (EEP).
