Bizuneh Bekele, the founding CEO of Eth-Switch S.C, a consortium of all banks established to integrate the national electronic payment system, has tendered his resignation last week.
The company’s Board of Directors, chaired by Tiruneh Mitafa, vice governor of the National Bank of Ethiopia (NBE), has already accepted his resignation and he has begun handing over his assignments.Bizuneh holds a master’s degree in Computer Science & Software from Shanghai University. He also has a first degree in management from the Addis Abeba University (AAU).
Established with 80 million Br registered capital seven years ago and operationalised in 2015, Eth-Switch has registered a six billion Birr transactions among the banks during this fiscal year, a fold increase from the previous year.
